Base Comparisons: 25mm and 32mm

I'm back from Pennsylvania and my Deathstorm Boxed Set was here waiting for me. The campaign is well put together and seems like it will be fun to play through, but I'll talk more about Shield of Baal in a future post. For now I wanted to focus on the new 32mm bases and the so-called "Basegate".

Initially I didn't think the larger 32mm bases would have much impact on gameplay. After all, it was only a difference of 7mm how much bigger could they possibly be? Looking at them first hand I think it might be a bit more significant than I had initially thought.

New Blood Angel/Flesh Tearer Formations

I had to drive across the country back to PA so I've been out of the loop for the past few days. I finally broke down and picked up the digital version of the Blood Angels Codex as I'm still waiting on my Sanguinary Guard Edition to come in. My initial read through has been positive and I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far.

I'll do a review of the Codex in the next few days, but for now I wanted to share some of the crazy new Blood Angel and Flesh Tearer formations that are in White Dwarf and the final installment of Shield of Baal: Exterminatus. Among them is the Angel's Fury Spearhead Force which consists of 3 Storm Ravens and 3 Ten Man Tactical Squads. Not only can the whole formation arrive starting Turn 1, but it has a special rule Augur Triangulation that allows models arriving from Deepstrike to assault starting Turn 1!

Final Blood Angels Rules Dump

This is it. My final "preview" post on the new Blood Angels Codex. This gives us a really good picture of what to expect come release. If you are stuck on a forum or Facebook group that's fallen to the Black Rage, stop on over at The Bolter and Chainsword's Blood Angel Subforum which has resisted the Red Thirst and remains the most open minded and frankly the best gathering of Blood Angels players on the internet IMHO.

Big thanks to Pascalnz and Duke Danse Macabre from over there for getting hold of the Codex early and doing a massive Q and A. I believe they are still answering questions, so if there's something you are dying to know, head on over to this thread. At this point, I'm satisfied with what I know and for anything else I'm just going to wait until I get my Codex.

Spanish version of the Blood Angels Codex leaked!

Iuchiban has the Spanish version of the Blood Angels Codex and was doing a Question and Answer thread over on Warseer.

I reformatted everything and posted below for your perusal. I also added it to my Blood Angels Compiled MEGA Post. Here's what we know:

Army Special Rules:
Furious Charge

FOC Changes:
HQ: Librarian Dreadnought
Troops: Tactical Squads, Scout Squads
Elites: Death Company, Dreadnoughts (Death Company and Furioso), Command Squad (Honour Guard are gone)
Heavy Support: Baal Predator

Baal Strike Force Detachment:
Mandatory 1 HQ, 1 Elite, 2 Troops
Optional: as usual, but 3 additional Elite slots (Total 4)
Special Rule: +1 Initiative when charging, all the army, any turn.

Where are all of the naysayers now?

I have a lot to add to the compilation thread and I'll get to that tonight. Just wanted to get this pic up right away.

Out with the old, in with the new

The new Blood Angels Codex is nearly upon us! With that in mind, I've been taking some time between posts and checking forums to evaluate where I'm at with my blog and how I want to proceed in the coming year. As I look at my posts over the past couple years I notice I have less hobby related posts and a lot more news and rumors.

While I like knowing what's going on with my favorite hobby, Natfka does a much better job of covering the news scene over on Faeit212 than I ever could and it was the models, terrain, and painting that drew me into the Warhammer hobby in the first place. There is nothing that excited me more than looking through old issues of White Dwarf at all of the cool terrain and models. With that in mind, I want to take my blog back in that direction and show off what I'm working on and do more tutorials.

New Blood Angels Terminators!

I received an email from a reader whose been playing since Rouge Traders days and he's been worried (as well as some other people) that after the Tactical Squad, Sanguinary Priest, and Codex are released, the Blood Angels are done.

Arguments for this suggest that Games Workshop wouldn't release a new unit after the Codex. Well, historically that isn't accurate.

We'll break it all down and analyze the picture that everyone is talking about after the break.
